How do I get started with HelloMobile?

Request a FREE sim online and we will deliver a HelloMobile sim card straight to your doorstep, free of charge! 

Do I need to RICA my HelloMobile sim?

South African law states that everyone must RICA their sim before it can be used. Submit your documents online on the RICA page, or send an email to support@hellomobile.co.za with your documents and sim serial number. You can also RICA your HelloMobile sim card at any Cell C store. 

How do I recharge my number?

Easy! Recharge with Cell C airtime vouchers, which can be bought at most retail stores across South Africa or via Cellphone or Online Banking. 

How do I convert my airtime to data?

Once you’ve recharged with Cell C airtime, simply dial *109# and select the data bundle of your choice.  

How do I make an international call from my HelloMobile sim card?

Exactly how you would from any other cell phone or landline. Simply recharge and dial. 

How do I check my balance?

Dial *101# to check your airtime, voice, SMS and data balances.  

Can I switch to HelloMobile but keep my existing number (port)?

Yes! If you are a Vodacom, MTN or Telkom user, you can easily port to HelloMobile and keep your existing number. These are the steps to follow: 

  1. RICA a new HelloMobile sim card and do not insert the sim into your phone
  2. Using your old sim, SMS the serial number of your new HelloMobile sim to 0847678287 (you will receive an SMS on the progress of your port request)
  3. When your current sim stops working, you can start using your new HelloMobile sim 
If I lost my HelloMobile sim, is there any way for me to get my old number back?

Yes. You can get a new HelloMobile sim that has not been RICA’d and do a sim swap. To do this, you will need to provide the following: 

  • serial number and/or mobile number of the lost sim 
  • the last 5 dialled numbers 
  • date, amount and method of last recharge 
  • a photo of your ID and proof of address not older than 3 months

I haven’t used my HelloMobile sim card for a while and it has stopped working. What can I do?

If you have not used your sim for 90 days or longer, the sim will be automatically blocked and cannot be reactivated. Thus, the number will no longer be available for use. 

How do I check what coverage is available in my area?

Coverage can be checked here: https://www.cellc.co.za/cellc/coverage-map 

Simply enter your address in the search field to see what coverage you have in your area. 

How do I load a data bundle?

First recharge with Cell C airtime and then dial *147# or *109# to load the bundle of your choice.  

Will I be able to carryover unused data on 30 Day data bundles?

Unlike any other data bundles, these bundles do not expire for as long as you buy another data bundle within the 30 day validity period. Your data will be carried over to the new validity date. 

During what time can Nite Data be used?

Nite Data bundles can be used between 1am and 7am. 

However, bonus nite data included in bundles such as 30 Day bundles, All-in-One bundles and Home Connecta Flexi bundles can be used between midnight and 5am. 

How do I check my data balance?

Dial *109# or *147# to check balances.

How do I transfer data to another HelloMobile user?

Dial *147#, select “My Account”, then “Send Data & Airtime” and “Send Data”. You are only allowed 3 transfers a day.  

What is Prepaid LTE?

Prepaid LTE refers to the Home Connecta Flexi tariff plan available to new HelloMobile users. On this tariff plan, you get access to affordable prepaid LTE data bundles with speeds of up to 150Mbps in optimum network and coverage conditions.

What do the Home Connecta Flexi bundles include?

The Home Connecta Flexi bundles include both Anytime data and Nite data. Nite data is a portion of your data bundle that can be used from 00:00 to 04:59:59 daily.

How long are Home Connecta Flexi bundles valid for?

All Home Connecta Flexi bundles are valid for 30 days. Any unused data can be rolled over for a further 30 days. To do this, dial *147#, select “My Account” and then Data Bundle Rollover”. 

How do I load Home Connecta Flexi bundles?

Dial *147*583# to load the Home Connecta Flexi bundle of your choice. 

Can anyone migrate to the Home Connecta Flexi tariff plan?

If you do not have a Prepaid LTE data-only sim card that is already defaulted to the Home Connecta Flexi tariff plan, or if a HelloMobile sim has been active for longer than 10 days, it will not be possible to migrate to the Home Connecta Flexi tariff plan. 

Will I be able to migrate back to my old tariff plan?

No, you will not be able to migrate back to an old tariff plan once on Home Connecta Flexi. 

I purchased a Home Connect Flexi bundle but the data is not working, what could be the problem?

It’s important to first check if there is LTE coverage in your area – this can be checked on Cell C’s coverage map: https://www.cellc.co.za/cellc/coverage-map 

Home Connecta Flexi data bundles can only be used with an LTE device and where there is Cell C LTE network coverage.
