1What BlackBerry® 10 service plans can be activated?

The Lite Plan, The Essential Plan and The Premium Plan can be activated for all Hello Mobile Customers in possession of a BlackBerry® 10 device.

2Can I activate the old BlackBerry® packages on a BlackBerry® 10 device?

The existing BlackBerry® Internet Service, BlackBerry® Enterprise Service, BlackBerry® Social and BlackBerry® Social and Email plans are not available for use on new BlackBerry 10 smartphones. However, these service plans will still be available for HelloMobile customers using devices on the old BlackBerry Operating System (OS 7.1 and earlier).

HelloMobile will continue to offer the old BlackBerry Services (BlackBerry® Internet Service, BlackBerry® Enterprise Service, BlackBerry® Social and BlackBerry® Social and Email) on the BBOS devices (e.g. 8520, 9320, 8900, 9300, 9790, 9700 etc.)

3How do I activate a BlackBerry® 10 service plan?

There are various ways you can activate a BlackBerry® 10 service plan:

  • Dial *147# from your BlackBerry® 10 handset and follow the screen prompts
  • Call customer care on 140
  • Visit a Hello or CellC store near you
  • Please note that only one CellC BlackBerry® 10 service plan can be active or activated on a single number

4Will I be notified when my plan is activated?

Yes. Once a BlackBerry® 10 service plan has been successfully activated, you will be notified via SMS.

5Can I deactivate or opt out from my chosen BlackBerry® 10 service plan?

Yes. You can only deactivate a service plan by calling the customer care centre on 140 or visiting a CellC store near you.

6I want to move from an old BlackBerry® plan to a BlackBerry® 10 service plan. How do I do this?

You will first need to deactivate your current service plan (the BlackBerry® Social Plan, BlackBerry® Social and Email plan, BlackBerry® Internet Service Plan or the BlackBerry® Enterprise Service Plan) by calling the customer care centre on 140 or visiting a CellC store near you.

Once your current BlackBerry® service plan has been deactivated, you can place your SIM card in the new BlackBerry® 10 device and activate a new BlackBerry® 10 service plan.

To activate a BlackBerry® 10 service plan, dial *147# from your BlackBerry® 10 handset and follow the screen prompts or call customer care on 140.

7I want to change my SIM card. How do I do that?

When changing your SIM card to a new one on a BlackBerry® 10 device, you will be required to re-activate your chosen BlackBerry® 10 service plan.

To activate a BlackBerry® 10 service plan, dial *147# from your BlackBerry® 10 handset and follow the screen prompts or call customer care on 140.

8Can I call international numbers?

Yes. International calls are allowed on all BlackBerry® 10 devices and all current international calling rates apply. For a list of all international calling countries that you can call for as little as 45c per minute, click here

9Can I roam internationally with my HelloMobile SIM card?

Unfortunately HelloMobile is not available on international roaming.

10I have depleted the data on my BlackBerry® 10 service plan. Can I add a data bundle?

Yes. You can add a data bundle for as little as R6.00 by dialling *147# from your BlackBerry® 10 handset and following the screen prompts, or by calling customer care on 140.

11Will I be told about BlackBerry® 10 software updates?

Yes. You will be notified of the update via the BlackBerry® Hub on your BlackBerry® 10 device.

You can also manually check if the software is available by going to Settings → Software Updates → and selecting “check for updates.”

Updates to BlackBerry® 10 OS will not incur any data charges, while updates to downloaded applications will use the data in the BlackBerry® 10 service plan or the loaded data bundle.

12Can I activate a BlackBerry® 10 service plan with a device that is not BlackBerry?

No, the BlackBerry® 10 service plans have been specifically created for BlackBerry® 10 devices and are not available for other devices.

For other devices you can add data bundles by dialling *147# from your device and following the screen prompts, or by calling customer care on 140.
